The Prime Minister left AVellingtoli for the South last night by the MaVaMr A Hardy, the well-known photographer, intends to leave Timaru shortly for Auckland, there to continue in 'the same line of business. Mr J. B. Inncss, a bookseller and printer in Wellington, for many years, and at ono time part proprietor or tho Hawcra "Star," died yesterday morning. He had a third paralytic stroke on Saturday last. _ _ The new minister of, Chalmers Church, Rev. Macaulay Caldwell,, witU Mrs Caldwell and their two children arriver from Auckland yesterday and were welcomed by °fn^? arer e s *?™ their wives. The induction . service takes place this evening, followed by a welcomo social. , p., n+ _.._ At a meeting of the South Canto -, bury Caledonian Society held last niglrfc, Mr C S. Eraser resigned his post of secretary of that body. A vote of thanks was accorded him for his scivices for the last fourteen years, and h s son, Mr H. H. Eraser, was appointed secretary until the end of tho vcar. .._^,
