HITTING A BAILIFF.
SALUTARY FINK. Per Press Association. "WELLINGTON, Oct. <_>•_>. Richard White was charged at the Magistrate's Court to-day with assaulting Buchanan Scott, the Court hail ill". N'hen the latter wont to execute a distress warrant at White's house Scott was explaining the nature ol' liis business to .Mrs White when defendant came up, and, according to .Scott struck the bailiff oil the head with a piece of wood and threw liim down the steps. The medical evidence showed that the injuries were not serious. Defendant said that he simply pushed Scott out.. The Magistrate stated that it was clear the Whites were preparing to quit the house with their belongings when interrupted by the bailiff. lie fined White £5 with the option of a month's imprisonment, half the line to go to Scott.
