Per Press Association. MASTERTOX, Sept. 24. Altrcd Langley and Rolanu Ranger were committed for trial to-day on a charge of breaking and entering the shop of Alexander White, tobacconist, anu stealing therefrom tobacco, pipes and tobacco pouches valued at X'o. CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 24. Eugenie Long, alias Dransiield, was committed for sentence to-day on a charge of perjury, having sworn in the course of a case in which TJiomas L,ong was charged with being illegally on premises that she was not Long's wife. Witness gave evidence and tho marriage certificate was produced. Accused pleaded guilty, but counsel for her said that Long forced tho woman into marrying him. He had persecuted her ever since, and was a low milium and despicable blackguard whom lie hoped the police would look after. DUNEDIN, Sept. 24. At a meeting of the Otago Branch of the Pipers' and Dancers' Association to consider what action the Association should take respecting tho disagreement with the Athletic Union as to control of piping and dancing, all present resolved not to take part in any competitions held by societies registered with the Athletic Union' and decided to circularise other branches tliroughout the dominion.
