CRIMELESS INVERCARGILL.
"GIVE THE PEOPLE A CHANCE." Per Press Associatiou. ixVEKCARGILL; Sept: 3 In an article, entitled "Crimeless lnyercargill," Mr G. Ji. Nicholls quotes troni the congratulatory : addresses of Judges Cooper, Williams, Chapman, and Dcnuiston, and shows that in the last three years and a quarter only seven convictions have been recorded in the Supreme Court on matters that arose in Invercargilh Most of the cases were of a trivial nature, and two arose in the Awarua district. A comparison with such places as Napier and Wanganui, with less population, is very marked. He concludes:" If the Government only give the people a chance by a national vote on any sort of equal terms, New Zealaudcrs will assuredly sweep the drink traffic awav at the 11)11 election."
