'I he Minister of Defence lias approved of the regulations for :l prize of .CSOOO for the best flying machine suitable for military purposes. The inventor must liavo been a resident m Australia for at least two years, and must be Australian horn, or, a naturalised British subject. Tlio machine must not be supported by any gas lighter tbaii air. and as far as possible it must bo constructed in Australia by Australians. It must, be capable of poising and returning to its starting place, and travelling at a rate of not less than 20 miles an hour. In the test it must carry at least two - passengers'. The total loading above the complete wight of the machine must be not le c s than 3501b5. It must possess sufficient novelty to warrant granting letters-r>atent to the success* fill machine. ■ Tf satisfactory for military purposes, it, is to be placed at the disposal «if the Commonwealth Government- for a period of (,hree months, at a price to bo fixed by arbitration.
