CUSTOMS RETURNS. TATTERSALL'S HORSE SALE. The Canterbury Farmers' Cooperative Association report, on the weekly sale of horses held in TattersalFs yards . on Saturday as follows:—The entry comprised -29 draught light harness and hacknev horses, among which were some real good sorts. The weather militated against a large attendance of buyers and the competition was not keen/For a real good young draught, £37 was realised and others varying in quality sold at from £23 10s to £35. Hacks and harness horses did not meet with, a very good demand, the few sales made ranging from £6 to £l4 10s. THE MART. ~\ Leslie O'Callaghan and Co. report i "" as follows on business during the past week:—Poultry: We had good entries and all classes are in excellent demand, especially good table birds; hens '2s 3d'to 3s 9d, cockerels 3s to 4s 9d. ducks 4d p.b. buff 5s 9d each, geese i Os. Pigs: A medium entry met with a good°sale; weaners 15s to ISs. Produce : Potatoes 7s, chaff (oat sheaf; .2s 9d s.i., oat straw Is, sacks extra, oats 8s Gd, carrots 2s, swedes 2s. Seed }*>- tatoes are in good demand; early rose. Princess Victoria, lapstones, early beauties, and various kinds sold at lid per lb in small lots: good prime tip-to-date seed is worth £4 per ton. Blighted lines are useless, and clients are advised to consign only seed in prime condition. _

BE3WICK STREET ROOMS. Jonas and Co. report for the week ended August 28th, as follows: —Owing to the inclement weather the entry was not as large as usual; but for ail prime lines of poultry there was a keen demand: hens 2s 9d to 3s 6d, roosters 9s 9d to 4s 6d, ducks 4s to 4s 6d, turkevs, hens, 5s to 6s 6d, gobblers 12s to" 13s, chickens Is 9d to 2s fid, geese 5s to 6s 3d, per pair. Purebreds 3s, 4s, to 8s each. Produce, prime potatoes 6s 6d to 7s, second grade 4s to ss, seed 6s to 6s 6d. wheat whole 12s to 12s 6d, broken 9s to 10s 6d. oats 4s 6d to 5s 9d, A grade 7s 9d ro 8s 3d, ■■ carrots (not much sale), 2s to 2s 6d, swedes Is 6d to 2s, parsnips Is iW to 2s 3d. hams Bid to 9id, bacon Sid, eggs lid to Is. per doz., butter fid to 9ld per lb. Fmit: Apples 2d to 2.'-d, bananas Fiji green 9s to 9s 3d. ripe 2id to 21 per lb, peanuts 2i<l. Muscatells 6d to 7]d, Sydney oranges 8s 6d to 8s 9d, mandarins 8s 6d to 9s, lemons 14s to 15s, passion fruit 6s Oft to 7s 3d, and other fruits in proportion. There was brisk bidding for the sale of the Gas Company's sli -d which sold at £l2. SALE OF PROPERTY. There was a large attendance at TattersalFs land salerooms on Saturday when Mr John Mundell offered for saje (under instruction from the mortgagee) a number of properties belonging to the South Canterbury Dairy Companv. Four sections fxt Maori 'Hill were first offered these comprising the frontage of the section on winch the dairy factory stands. The tirstt "peetion offered was one of 22 perches next to the railway, and this brought £175, Mr W. Black being the purchaser. The section adjoining, of similar size, realised £lB6. Mr A\ - Black securing this also. The third section, containing 30 perches, fell to the bid of Mr J-. Crombie at- £2oo. while the fourth one,_ containing 3S perches was secured by Mr R. 11. Bowie afc £230. The Temuka cheese factory, a 2-storijed brick bmMing. with the two acres on which it .stands was sold to Mr A. H. Mackrell for £525. The Geraldihe cheese factory, with nearlv 6 acres of land, was passed In to the" bid (£400) of Mr Melville Grav. The Pleasant Point cheese ia<torv was passed in to the same bidder at £l5O, and the Woodbury creamcry was passed in to Mr Gray at £IOO. The Fairlie creamery with its half-acre site was bought by Mr J. E. Goodwin. of Fairlie, for £156. The Alhury croamerv was bousht by Mr M. Gray for £50," and the Hunter creamery was .iUo secured by Mr Gray at £SO. Three years was the term allowed m which to complete payments on all t\uproperties, interest to he at the mte of 7 per cent, from the day of sale.
