(Fromipur Chvn Ccrresptirtdent.) The Pleasant Point amateurs gave a very success) uPentertainment oil Thursday evening in tlie Oddfellows' Hall, in aid of tlie Barclay memorial fund. The following took part in the .first pai'it of the programme: —Messrs It. Jamieson, j. \Varring, J.v /Williams, MJ-Friel, J. Pettigrew, li. Murphy, R. McKay, J. Mctiill,' and Turkington, the accompanists being Miss Ben and •Mr G. Pettigrew.■ "Luring the interval Mr Saunders, the chairman of the School' Committee, thanked audience i'or attending in such numbers to help &• good cause, ~and. called for cheers for the performers. The second part opened with flute solos -by Mr Stark, Talkeephone by Mr J. Williams, club swinging by Miss Scott, songs by Mr V. Coira and Mr PI. Lawrence. The entertainment concluded with a farce "The Jealous Husband." The fund will benefit by about £5 when all incidentals are paid. . At a meeting of directors ; of the Pleasant Point Caledonian ' Society, twelve were present, and, in the absence of the president Mr O. Crozier was in the-chair. The balance sheet for the fancy dress ball showed a credit balance of over £9. Tlie secretary read tlie rough balance sheet for the year, showing receipts ..-£174 13s 9d, and expenditure £136. A donation of 4*5 5s was voted to the secretary (Mr A. E. Lambert), and also a hearty vote of thanks for the very able manner. in which lie had carried out his duties. The Pipe Band were' also donated £3 3s. \ T otes of thanks were passed to Mr M. Andrews for work done with engine on bicycle track gratis; and the" Pipe Band for the way they had attended the sports meeting, and the fancy dress hall. It was decided to hold the annual meeting in the Oddfellows' Hall on Monday, August 23rd.

Workmen are at present connecting the telephone with Dr Paterson's house.
