AMUSEMENTS.
SHERWOOD'S PICTURES. There was a fair attendance at Sherwood's Pictures last night (chiefly downstairs), and those present found that the • new programme comprised, some very interesting things. A able one ifas a long combination of steeplechase- films, the -selection of jumps ' providing an . object lesson iti spillsand of steeple courses in various kinds; of country. : The "win" was a notable one (unless the leaders had . been cut out) as two riderless horses passed the post first (probably then the leaders were cut out). In "A Drama in Seville" some actors had been engaged to enact a drama in connection • with a real bull-fight, of which some exciting features were very well-shown. For a humorous "fake" the adventures of two youths who ''Would play Cards'' would take some beating. It must have taken some courage to go through the antics depicted by, "the machine that cannot lie." A very elaborate phantasmagoria pantomime," the latter part in colour, "The Harlequin's love Story.,", was- well worth seeing. Uie "setting" besides a large amount of theatrical property ,included some real scenes in French castles and the noted gardens of Versailles. Those were the most striking among the film pictures. Variety was furnished by some comic songs and a humorous sketch. _ There | will be a matinee, with children ns usual this afternoon. Ihe theatre will bo otherwise occupied this evening, and Professor Sherwood wdl present a new programme on Monda\ evening. This will include nn Instoricll sketeh. "Henry 111. " "The Charnmgrie Industry," ' 'Ena\ancl s Greatest Trotter," and "air-ship- pictures.
