THE NAVY LEAGUE.
WELLINGTON BRANCH. Per Press Association. **"\ WELLINGTON, June 29. There was a. fair attendance at tho annual meeting of the Wellington Branch of the Navy League this afternoon. The Hon. T. W. Hisloi> (president) said that the finances of the branch, though not strong, were satisfactory. Since last meeting .there had been a great development regarding the necessity for upholding tho supremacy of the British Navy. New Zealand's offer 'of a Dreadnought; had' met with the ready response and almost unanimous aoorovaf of the people." . i Mr AV" Fraser, MP., said the Navy League was educative, its object was to keep prodding at tho Government to keep it alert to the. necessity for keeping the navy efficient. No doubt the Navy League at Home bad had a. good effect in that direction, but it faded into. insignificance before what the German Navy League had' done and .was doing.
