HUNTING.
AIEET AT WHALEBONES... The point to point of the Waimate Hunt was probably responsible for the small attendance at tne Whalebones on Thursday, but those present had a very good afternoon's sport. A hare Was, souii. found in Air Lyons' big grass paddock, but after going a very short way was lost owiuj; to sheep spoiling the scent. Several paddocks were then drawn blank, but eventually a hare was started which crossed over Armstrong's road into Hadlow and was killed after a, short run. Another hare' was soon found at the top of Hadlow, and after being hunted down the ridge crossed into Air Armstrong's and then circling round, ran back again to Hadlow gully, whence sheep caused a check for a moment. However, the huntsman, casting quickly to the right, ;hotinds were soon 011 the line again, and a very nice run took place over Armstrong's road iuto Air Selbie's, then on to the road again and then across Air Lyons' property on to the C'laremont road just above the Kennels where she was lost. Heggerty on Spraybird, F. Gladstone Robinson on Comet, G. Green on Ladv, L. Selbio on Climax, J. C. Trengrovo on Jean, F, Hatton
on Shandygaff, G. Webb on Jack. Tbe meet on Thursday next will be at Mr W. Grant's, Ellougbton Grange at 1.30 p.m. ____________
