GARRISON CARNIVAL.
A I'IIOGEESS MEETING. A meeting of the general committee of the Garrison Bazaar, to be held next Sliuw" week was Jieltl at the Drillshed 'ast . night. Present: — Major Raymond, in the chair, Lieut.Colonel Beckingham, Captain and Adjutant Foden, Captain McNab, Captain Boys, Lieutenants Smith, Holdgate, Morgan, Brown and Purdom; Q.M.S. Williams, Sergeants Hurdley, Robertson, Corporal Campbell and Private W. Boys. Captain Thomas sent an apology. Major Raymond was asked to accept the position of general manager, and agreed to do so, and Corporal Campbell was appointed secretary, his remuneration to be fixed by the executive committee. It was resolved that eacli cor.ps be asked to appoint an officer, as a member of the executive committee. It' was decided to hold a. Garrison Ball during the present winter, the present Garrison Ball Committee to be requested to carry it out; Captain Foden .to be permanent chairman of that committee. It was also decided to hold a sports and display meeting on Labour Day, the programme for this to be drawn up by the executive, committee. The carnival will be carried out generally on the lines prepared for one in 1899, which bad to li" abandoned on account ol so many officers leaving for the Boer War. Tbe programme then prepared was laid before the previous meeting of the committee by ex-Captain Gillies, who with Major Crawshaw had drawn it up, and the committee agreed tlv>+. witli some slight amendments it would Ik> an excellent one for the purpose, -'id attractive on account of p"veltv. Each corps is to run a stall or department, and the emulation thus secured will have its natural effect.
