"OLD CHINA."
A COLLECTOR DUPED. HEAVY DAMAGES. Received 12.3 a.m.. May 15th. LONDON, -May 14. The executors of Charles Dickens, of Dickens and Jones, were awarded £10,3-1-5 damages against Arthur Ellis. a Bond street dealer, owing to letters containing fraudulent misrepresentations in connection with the sales of china. Dickens, an octogenarian, spent £130,000 upon Sevres and Dresden china, and after death the pieces were discovered largely to be forgeries. In one case lie paid Ellis £"1200 for a piece worth only £'lo. Mr Justice Grantham hinted that a criminal prosecution of Ellis wonld follow. A civil action against another dealer is pending.
