, From to-day the Hon. Thomas Mackenzie takes up the position of Minister of Agriculture. Sir Joseph Ward retains the portfolio of Lands. Mr J. 11. McLeod, agent at Gore for the New Zealand Life Insurance Department, has been appointed chief inspector for South Canterbury for the Mutual Life and Citizens Company, Limited. He will take up his duties in Timaru on June ,Ist.
