LEPER PATIENTS.

ON QUAIL ISLAND. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHtJRCH, April 30. The Hon. Mr Buddo, Minister ol Health, accompanied by Drs. Finch and Upham, visited Quail Island to-day, in order to see what was being done tor the leper patients. At present there are two on the island—a European and a Maori. They have had severe attacks of the disease, but are now very much recovered. The European s was a very severe case. Tlie Nastin treat; ment has been used, and it is reportec with good results. - The patient himself stated that he had greatly benefited by the treatment. The Minister found that the patients were well accommodated in the small shelters in a wel! shaded spot, and each had an apartment for himself. They expressed themselves well pleased .with their treatment, and hopeful as to the future. ,Mr Buddo informed a newspaper representative that lie was o. opinion that the best possible was hemp done for these* men, who deserved r groat deal of public synmathy.
