EARTHQUAKES.
VERY SEVEKE TREMORS. Press Association-By Telegraph-Copyright Received 12.20 a.m., April 30th. SYDNEY, April 29. Very severe earthquake tremors were registered at the Observatory shortly before midnight oil April 27th. • Tlicy were preceded by two smaller tremors. The maxinium amplitude was 15.8 millimetres. ' The large waves continued for nearly five minutes. Some of the series of succeeding waves reached six millimetres. The epicentrum of the earthquake was . 2000 or 3000 miles north'of Sydney, probably in the seismic zone embracing the Phillipines and surrounding islands. .Slight earth tremors were felt in the Northampton district at midnight on April 19th: No damage was done!
