AVard told a Roxburgh Lawrence railway deputation that the Cabinet had considered irrigation in Central Otago, the Lawrence-Roxburgh line, and the Otago Central railway m conjunction. The Government of the day had been forced, into the prosecution of the Otago Central on promises that it would bo revenue-earning. Now other railways were being saddled with the Otago Central's deficiency. He hinted at the probability of the imposition of a higher railway rate in Otago in justice to other railways in the Dominion.
