NOT FIGHTERS. -. Received 1-1.40' p.m., April 15th. SYDNEY, April 15. - The Labour Congress resolved against a proposal for a general strike. Mr Bowling accused certain members of cowardice, and declared, that they were totally deficient in that spirit of fight possessed by the Newcastle miners. THE COMMERCIAL TRAVELLERS. PERTH, April 15, The Commercial Travellers' ; Conference, after much discussion, carried a resolution recommending the Dunedin Association to affiliate with the Associations at Auckland and Wellington.
Mr Justice Sim. president of the Arbitration Court, has ruled on a Wellington case that a young man who has been .regularly working as<-,a carpenter, though never "apprenticed, may be given an under-rate permit. "Any bona fide. worker in an industry was entitled to apply for an under-rate permit, although he might; not have served any apprenticeship. A worker who had beoi trained in one industry. was not entitled, however, to become an under-, ra+e worker in some other industry, in which an., apprenticeship was required." ' ;■■-•■ ' —■•
