HELP THE NEEDY.

To the Editor-of the "Timaru Herald." Sir,—l observed the local in your issue of this morning relative to a case of distress. Might I suggest that the ladies publish a brief statement of the position, and that you make a public appeal through your columns. I happen to know something of the circumstances, and I have felt it a special privilege - to help the hrave widow. She truly is a heroine, and I am quite sure others will be just- as willing, once they get full particulars. May I also suggest further, that if the matter was brought under the notice of the two hands, they would gladly give performances, at which collections could- be taken up.—l am, etc., arrow: Timaru, March 30th, 1909.:
