FIRES.
Per Press Association. NEW PLYMOUTH, March 26. Shortly after midnight a fire was discovered in the Jubilee boarding-liouse, clqse to' the centre' of the town. The flames had a strong hold .when discovered,' and or two of the boarders were rescued with difficulty. The upper story was gutted, and most of the boarders lost all their effects. There was no wind, otherwise Archibald Clark's and Cock and Company's warehouses would have been endangered. On the building the insurance was: —In the North Queensland office £IOOO, and effects were insured for £250 in the Alliance Company. The damage to the building is estimated at £450, and to the effects at £SOO. The building was owned by Burgess, Fraser and Co., and occupied by Mrs Foley.
