HIGH VALUATIONS.
STRONG PROTESTS^. Per Press Association. INVERCARGILL, Feb. 25 At the Town Council to-night the much discussed question of the town valuations came up again, when a special committee reported having examined the valuation roll and found anomolies therein relating to all parts of the town. Tliev considered the valuation as a whole "too high and recommended that the Government be asked to allow the old valuation to remain in force for another 12 months, that a new valuation be made by the local valuer and that a deputation, from the Council wait on the Premier and place the whole matter before him. The Council adopted the report. Working independently of the Town Council a number of representative citizens decided to -clay to circulate for signature a petition asking the Minister in charge of the Valuation Department to have the local valuation .roll revised. _^________
