BOWLING.

KIA TOA v. TTMARTJ. A return inter-Club bowling match was played yesterday afternooiu between tne Kia Toa and the- 'limaru Clubs, on the green of the* first mentioned Club. The' weather was perfect for the game, and the gathering proved to be an • unqualified success. The green was in excellent order, though a trifle bumpy here and there, but it hardly has the condition on it of the older' Club's green, and consequently it took a few heads before the visitors were quite at home. The games were hard fought throughout, but Timaru proved the value of their longer acquaintance with the game, and were finally adjudged the victors by 5S points. A welcome afternoon tea was provided by the ladies of the Kia Toa Club, and a large number of interested visitors of both sexes were present, and watched the play with keen enjoyment. At the conclusion of the play, Mr S. A. Bristol, president of the lvia Toa Club, expressed the hope that the visitors had enjoyed themselves, and that these matches would be played more, often in the future, in the interests of the game. He congratulated the Timaru Club on its victory, and said he would like to see the time come soon when the Kia Toa's would score a win on even terms. Mr Moses White responded briefly, and said they had thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon's- play, and from what he saw of the Kia Toa's play, it would not be long before Mr Bristol's wish would be realised.
