Proi'essor Flecker, of Potsda-m, during six years' observations, measured the diurnal oscillations of the solid earth, and considers that they are analogons with the. tides. Received 12.40 a.m., Feb. 26th. MELBOURNE, Feb. 25. M. Barrachi, the Government Astronomer, referring to Mr Heeker's discovery, said- that. Mr Hecker was at one time, in Australia tiiki'iu; observations in the. Pacific, to determine questions relative to variations ■in gravity. Mr Hecker informed him that the instrument he bad. made had been in position since 1902. and that accurate records of..the minutest variations had been obtained by weans of photography.
