The Timaru Rifles fired a match at 700 yards on Tuesday evening, for prizes presented by Messrs E. Pratt, J. W. Souter and A. Hardy. A _ ■" variable wind prevailed, aild the shooting was only fair. Baird , 32 638 Lieutenant Holdgate ... 36 1— 3i This match was the final range of the championship, which was won by Colour-Sergeant Higgins, Private A. Baird- second, Private T. Currie third. Corporal Stevenson fourth, and Private H. Holdgate fifth. The second-class championship was won by Captain McNab, with Corporal Doyle second, and Private J. Baird third.
