TIMARU PORT GUARDS. The company held a match last evening at the 600 yards range for trophies presented by Messrs McWhirter, G. and T. Young, and L. James. A good number competed and the shooting was very good. The company will fire again on Saturday at 700 yards. The highest

The Timaru Rifles fired a match at 700 yards on Tuesday evening, for prizes presented by Messrs E. Pratt, J. W. Souter and A. Hardy. A _ ■" variable wind prevailed, aild the shooting was only fair. Corporal Stevenson fourth, and Private H. Holdgate fifth. The second-class championship was won by Captain McNab, with Corporal Doyle second, and Private J. Baird third.
