■ '*> . r-r" THE ULIMAROA DAMAGED. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 24. The Huddart Parker Company's steamer Ulimaroa, which grounded in Otago harbour last Saturday morning, and which was badly damaged, was docked at Lyttelton yesterday evening. -A survey of the vessel's bottom was held this morning, and it is understood that tenders will be called for the work of repairs. An inspection of the vessel shows that she has sustained very serious damage through contact , with the rocks. The first dent shows under the bottom on the port side, ahout tiO feet from the bow. 'Hie plates are badly dented and the rivets started. Going aft numerous bad dents can be seen, and then for about 120 feet or more the plates and frames ire very seriously buckled and set up. The damage seems to be confined to the two rows of plates extending from the keel outwards for about eight feet, and fore and aft for well over 100 feet amidships. The plates at the after end of the damaged section are badly cracked, and water -was streaming through in numerous places. A number of the cracks were so bad that they had to be plugged at Port Chalmers by a diver with canvas and wood wedges. The contract lor repairs will involve the removal of eighteen plates, each about 22 feet in length. '
