FIRES.
Per Press Association. BLENHEIM, Feb. 22. A house on Old Kenwick Road, near Blenheim, was totally destroyed by lire on Saturday afternoon. It was owned and occupied by Mr James Orr. The insurances amounted to £l5O on the bouse, and £4O on the furniture in the State office. INVERCARGILL. Feb. 22. An eight-roomed house belonging to Mr Alex. ' Macdonald, sawmiller of Awarua Plains, 'was burnt on Saturday night, the inmates having a narrow escape. A daughter sixteen years of ago was rescued by her brother, who jumped through the window and dragged her out. She was severely cut by broken glass, and is now in ■ the hospital.
