HOTEL FIRE-ESCAPES.
To the Editor of the "Timaru Herald. Sir, —I see by a notification in. your paper that tue present licensing committee's term of office expiies next month. Previous to their retiring from office there is one most important matter which requires their attention, and that is the efficient means of escape in the event of fire in several of the hotels in Timaru. In all the principal towns of the Dominion this is a matter that has been paid great attention to in the course of the last few years, and rightly so, as a considerable number of deaths have been occasioned through the means of escape being insufficient. There is one hotel in particular m this town which would be an absolute death-trap in the event of fire—l am, ete- ' PROGNOSTICATOR. Timaru, Feb. 18th.
