The wheat markets are strong and active, owing to-"the-'continuance of ihe good demand which'neutralises tlie effect ofheavy shipments. Holders of cargoes are firm. An Australian cargo sold at 37s 9d; 13,000 Adelaide MarchApril and 14,1)00 Adelaide or 'Victorian March, at 38s; Australian on spot is scarce at 41s (id. Butter is dull, and, colonial is neglected.. Choicest Australian, 102s to 104s, occasionally 106s; unsalted, IOGs to 108s; New Zealand salted lOSs; Danish 114s to HGs. Cheese is .firm; New Zealand white 00s, coloured (scarce) 635. Sugar, German 10s, first marks 12s Id'. • At the Bradford wool market, more business" is doing. Common sixties 232, stfp&r 242. The prospectus is issued of £1,580,000 New South "Wales .34 per cent, loan at a minimum of £97 10s, repayable in 1.950, and redeemable at par in 1930. The " Financial Times" asserts that tlie loan is not a great bargain compared with the Indian 3d per cent, loan. WELLINGTON, Feb. 19. At the wool sale to-day, the values realised were ittost satisfactory. J' ()1 erossbreds and filler qualities the prices of last sale were well maintained, and where there was a dilfereiice it was all iii the sellers' favour. Lambs wool showed a very satisfactory appreciation in value, 'bright superior wools of this description making an advance oi from Id to 1-J-d above the prices at last stiles. Medium lambs' wool showed an improvement of lid. . Pieces generally wore better valup. Grenei all\ the tone of the market was' considerably stronger. ' . , The size of the local wool sales ol late indicates that in -time to come buying will be restricted to the four centres of the, Dominion, and. this will give buyers more time to spare. _ The quantity of New Zealand wool exported from Ist- July to 31st ; January', as prepared by Dalgety s, is 964 009' bales, an increase of Males over the corresponding period oi last vear.
