TRADE UNION CONFERENCE. Picks Assodirtion-By . Telegraph-(Jopyri'jht LONDON, Feb. 11. The conl'creucc of Radical Trade Union Co-operative Associations at Brixton Hall unanimously adopted a resolution urging the taxation of land values. Several members of the House of Commons were present, and suggested a tax of a Id in the £ on capital values.

The executive officers of the Northern Colliery Employees Federation have held several conferences with Mr Rickey, the New Zealand miners' representative. As a result resolutions were formulated to bring New South Wales and New Zealand mining organisations into, closer relationship fot mutual support. The seamen's and waterside unions arc also to be asked to co-operate; .
BREACHES OF AWARDS. Per Press Association. ASHBURTON, Feb. 12. At the Magistrate's Court to-dav, before Mr V. G. Day, 5.M.,. Hugh B. Bower claimed £2.from Theophilus Best for committing a breach of the Christchurch tailoring award in working for £1 7s 6d instead of £2 15s per week, as the award provided. Mr W. H. Haggar appeared for the Department, and defendant was fined 10s. Bower claimed £lO from C. Andrews and Co. for a breach of the same award, in employing apprentices. The firm was also charged with a breach of-'tho award in respect of Best, fine of 40s, without costs, was inflicted in each case.
arbitration Court. INVERCARGILL, Feb. 12. The Arbitration Court sat to-day, when several breached of awards' were dealt with. Nominal penalties were inflicted where the, breach was unintentional. . For paying less than the award rate, William Durilop, tailor, was fined £3. Donald Manson,; baker, was fined £2 for failing to pay wages for more than a fortnight. ■[ lii the case of J. L. .Harper against John; Walker, building contractor, claim £SOO compensation on account of an accident which resulted in the loss of his right, ami, a question was raised whether sufficient notice was given, and-decision was'reserved.
