AMUSEMENTS.

VAL VOUSDEN. On Monday evening next a Timaru audience will witness the last public appearance of Val Y'ousden on the stage, and it is safe to say that few who can attend will fail to see the last of the popular entertainer, and to laugh once more at his many humorous impersonations and imitations. Val Vousden is a master at mimicry, and his local hits and skits never fail to cause much hearty laughter. The box plan is open at the Dresden.

ERNEST TOY. Mr Ernest Toy, who is to renew his acquaintance with Timaru on Wednesday next, is a violin player with a wonderful list of successes to his credit. To have held his own, and gained distinction among the world's best musicians, is an achievement of which his fellow Australians are justly proud. In London he never fails to draw a lar«'o audience. Mr Toy is intensely patriotic, and, if possible, he always contriver to have other Australian artists assist at. his recitals, and many a struggling singer has been lifted into promiiielice through this generous consideration. The leading critics have invariably acknowledged his greatness,

and the "Musical Courier" says his playing of Sarasate's Fantasie on Faust is a brilliant animated perrorinance tnac would be difficult to excel. This number will figure on Vv ectnesday's programme, and other items will be of equal interest. Seats may be reserved at the Dresden, where the plan is nowopen.
