At'tho meeting-of tlic VUnivorsity Senate at Auckland on Saturday, Sir Robert Stout was re-elected Chancellor and the Hon. C.'C. Bowen, viee-Chan-cellor. The Hon. G. Fowlds, accompanied by Mrs Fowlds, passed through Tihiaru by express on Saturday night, on his way to Christchurch, and was met at the station here by Mr Craiizio. M.l\ The Minister will go on to Wellington by to-night's boat from Lyttelton. Dr. T. S. Pcarse, au old Waitohi hoy, arrived at Auckland on Monday last from London;' aiul' will visit Ins home for a few days'duringthe present week. His many friends in the Teinuka distrjeb will welcome lmn back again. Mr D. McCaskill, 8.A., at present headmaster at the Fairlie school and ureviously an assistant at Tomuka, has been appointed headmaster of the District High School at Milton, Otago. This appointment will I>c looked upon with mingled feelings in scholastic quarters. "Mr McCaskill will he congratulated upon his promotion, and South Canterbury, commisoratcd on lossing one of her best young men.
