The cricket difficulty has been re- ■ moved by the players surrendering unconditionally to the Board of Control's f terms. In the match New South Wales v. • Victoria, the former State has lost three wickets for 365; Bardsley 192, Noble 129; they added 304 for the second wicket, the colt (Bardsley) giving a fine performance. GRADE MATCHES. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 23. The grade matches were proceeded with this afternoon under ideal conditions, the succession of hot days having left the. wickets hard, but not in the best order. Linwood gained a winning advantage over St. Albans, whilst Riccartou against East stayed in all the afternoon, scoring 278 for seven : wickets. Sydenham gained a strong lead over West Christchurch, and should score another win against last year's champions. Scores:—rSt. Albans 72, Linwood 256 for A. Orchard 51, E. Humphreys carton 278 for seven (A. Anthony 146J, v. East Christchurch. AVest Christchurch 324 v. Sydenhani 139 for four (Grainger 82 not out).

MATCHES A'.'k.DUNEDIN. DUNEDIN, Jan. .24. After a break of several weeks, cricket matches were resumed yesterday. A shower fell during the afternoon, but did not interfere with play. In the senior grade, Dunedin met Grange, the latter being disposed of for 138 (Henderson 71 not out). Torrance took four wickets for 34, including .the'hat trick. Dunedin made 80 for one wicket (Wilson.-48 not out). Carisbrook B met Carisbrook A, and compiled 187 (Siedeberg 95). The A team lost one wicket' for 103 (Hopkins 62 not out, Watson 38 not out). Opoho made 61 against Albion, and the latter responded with 90 for six wickets. -

TEMUK.A v. GERALDINE. In the above match, played on Thursday last in Victoria Park, the visitors scored an easy victory in the first innings; they declared it closed for 204 runs with a loss of 4 wickets.
