A REPRESENTATIVE /MATCH
A special meeting of delegates to the Soutli Canterbury Cricket Association was Held at Temuka on.Thursday evening, one ot tne vice-presidents, iJr Cox, bemg in the chair. A letter was received from the Canterbury Cricket dissociation stating ttiat the Canterbury < rei>resentative eleven would play a match against Soutli Canterbury representatives on their ■ way to meet Otago, The match will be played on Vveanesday and Thursday, February lO.ch and 11th, the Canterbury team leaving by the second express on the Uth for Dunedin. After some discussion it was resolved that the match be played at Timaru, and Dr Cox, iuessrs. Lynch, Bain, and Jordan (secretary) were appointed to carry out the necessary arrangements in connection with the fixture. It as some years since this match was played in Timaru and it is hoped that the playing of the match in town once more will revive public interest in this . the finest of summer games. Thtf. Canterbury team is a strong side and the public may confidently look forward to a fine eshibitibn from the team that sought to wrest the Plunket Shield from Auckland. The form shown by the local players this season has been better than that shown for some years past, and the selector should be able to place in the field a team strong enough to extend even the visitors.
