The seal of the Council was affiled to the contracts of Messrs Hall and Sons foi the construction of the Main road bridge on the Opihi. _ ENGINEER'S REPORT. Mr Marcbant reported on the various woiks in hand as follows: "Temuka Bridge.—Protective works along the Maori Pah paddock aie beint constructed. There is a low water depth in the river here of 18ft. or more.'making the work difficult. •' Hanging Rock.—The contractor has made a satisfactory start with this bridge and protective works. The road round the Hanging Rock has been surveyed and pegged. It was a most difficult undertaking to locate this road, so that it might be coiwtructed at, a minimum of expense, on account of the rock precipicesobstructing it. "" Protective Works.—Those about the Point have been completed and the extension of the Allandale Road Works at Fairlie is in hand. The overseer reported having visited Allandale bridge. Hanging Rock bridge. Temuka bridge. Point bridge, and the Orari-Waihi Water-race, and been in the Council yard' for a day. The Temuka bridge protective works (south fide) would b? finished in a day or tw-o. and the Fairlie protective works about the same-time. Mr Marchant would visit and inspect these works on 16th inr-t. The OTariWaihi water-race is at present in good .irdtr and no complaints had been made. Mr W. Hide, chairman of the Waitohi Water-race Committee reported plenty of water in the races, and that account.' amounting to £6 had been passed. Mr Rolleston reported a good flow in the races of the Rangitata-Orari Water Supply District. The ranger had now finished ploughing the -races. ACCOUNTS. amounting to £752 18s were passed for payment, and the me.-ting concluded.
