Tlie announcement/ of the untimely death of " Burly Bob" Deans will be received with regret throughout New Zealand. The deceased was a member of a well-known Canterbury family, and though only in his 25th year, had made an international reputation in the Rugby world. Deans wm the youngest member of the All Black team in 1905, and represented the colony in the third test match against the late British, team., His unassuming manner,' combined'- with . his prowess on the field, -'matte him* easily Canterbury's' most papular ; ' fooflmrier, and his l«ss -will be severely felt.- by- the province.
