FARMERS' UNION MOVING. Per Presa AieociationGHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 23. At to-day's meeting of the North Canterbury Provincial Executive of the New Zealand Farmers' Union the following resolution, proposed by Mr G- W. Leadley was carried —" That in view of the trend of present day politics curtailing the liberties of the people and hampering private enterprise, this executive is- of opinion that the time has arrived when rising superior tt> "all Considerations of party and every other sectional jssne. the producers of the dominion should combine to support men who will make the interests of the country a first consideration and that, therefore, we recommend our friends to support only such candidates as may subscribe to the fanners' union platform; ako that chairmen of branches be urged to represent to their members the imperative necessity for rousing themselves to take an active interest in the forthcoming political contest."
