FRIENDLY SOCIETIES' BILL,
Per Press Association.
WELLINGTON, August 25.
Representatives of Druids Lodges waited on the Premier to protest against certain clauses in the Friendly Societies Bill giving the registrar power to refuse to register a society unless an actuary is .satisfied that the scale of fees is sufficient lo ensure its stability. ; The deputation understood that these clauses would be retrospective. The Premier said that the clauses had been inserted in response to representations niade. He would ask Parliament to send the Bill to a committee which would take evidence. All of them were anxious to see that the financial basis of the Societies was sound, and if the Druids were sound without such clauses, everyone would be willing to prevent them being put into a wrong position. Every opportunity would be given for both sides to bo heard.
