The Taylor-Carrington Company, which for a long thm> wa-s popular in dramatic productions, Las now blossomed forth as a ciuemacogiaph concern, and in this capacity they made their first appearance in- 'JLunaru la&t evening. 1 hough. ■ t h«s ■al - tendance of the public at the Theatre Royal was not uncomfortably laig<?, tlio.-o who were present, it is safe to say, thoroughly appieciated the programme submitted for their edification, a programme, aptly described as being comical, musical, sensational, moral and. educational. The films shown were all new to a Timaru audience and quite captivated those who saw them, the comic ones being. really comic, the scenic ones excellent, the dramatic aiid sentimental ones commanding; close attention. Among the scenic pictures "The Giant's Causeway," "Edinburgh and. Glasgow" and "Relief of a Lighthouse" were outstanding ones, while others -illustrative of the magic of Japan and experiences in fairyland were marvellous, not only for their beauty, but for the remarkable manner in which the pantomimic effects were created. All the other films, whether., serious or comical, were cordially received. What .might be mentioned as a novelty to a Tkatu audience was the music—the bulk of it, even a vocal item," \was ."machine-made," a, powerful gramapljone.having.been saddled with the .responsibility of. enlivening the proceedings. "THE LITTLE BREADWINNER," Under the direction of Mr Allan Hamilton, at ' the Theatre Royal on Monday night next will be presented by the Mey nell and Gunn management the celebrated domestic play "The Little Breadwinner," by H. C. Campbell. The author has intermingled his colours in varied shades, and in the atmosphere of the home of a scion of the British aristocracy, who is a Quaker and a man of strong moral demeanour,, has woven a story of exceptional and thrilling human characteristics. Itis said that " The'' Little Breadwinner" embraces many incidents and situations which are said to be exciting to an eminent degree, embellished with genuine comedy and natural scenes, and it should afford ample scope ; for the fine company engaged by the management. The company is an exceptionally strong one, including Messrs .E. Coope, 0. R. Stanford, and Meedames Beatrice Holloway, Alice Deorwyn, little Queenie Williams, etc. The season is limited to one night only: The company which only arrived recently from Australia, is at present playing in Dunediri. ..The box plan opens on Thursday at the Dresden.
