A SHOOTING CASE.
Per Press Association. DUXEDIN, August 20. Shortly before 8 o'clock to-night a man named Jolw 'Webster, who about ten days ago was bound over to keep the peace towards his wife, niado an attempt to slioot- a man named George Hubbard. Mrs Webster had. been staying at the house of Mrs Downes, lier cousin, and in tho evening Webster presented himself at the door, saw his wife and asked her to return to him, which she refused to do. Ho then said that if she did not ho would shoot her and produced a revolver which Downes and Mis Downes tried to take from hhn. Failing in the attempt they ■went for the police. • In the meantime Hubbard, who is Mis Downes's brother, had followed Webster up and overtook him at the corner of Cumberland aud Frederick streets. Jiubbard asked Webster what lie was doing with a revolver, whereupon Webster fired a thofc at him, the bullet passing between Hubbard's legs. Hubbard then grabbed Webster, who is a small man and held him until the police arrived, when he was taken into custody on a charge of discharging a firearm at Hubbard with intent to do hint grievous bodily harm.
