The annual meeting of the Timaru Cricket Club was held • in Budd's- G'afe last evening, when Dr C. E. Thomas pre-, sided over a good: muster of members. The annual report was a much more satisfactory one than that of last year. The year was commenced with old liabilities amounting to £34,' and concluded, with a reduction in this-of £l2. Assets showed an increase of nearly £l3, after £2l 10s had been written oif for depreciation. Items in -the new assets included a horse, harness, and mowing machine. During tho season 31 matches were won, four, drawn, and 12 lost. Douglas had the best batting average, 34.6 for 12 innings, with the. best individual score for the season,' 15? not out; and Keen headed the bowling average with 4.5. But- the best performance was Bain's, second in batting average 34.1, best innings 102, and third in bowling, 67 wickets for 7.1. The thanks of -the club were due to. all donors of cheques, to Major Lindsay, to Mrs Thomas, and the Rawhiti Hockey Club. As for the Homing season, the committer.-' had obtained good soil for top-dressing purposes on the wicket, and everything pointed to a prosperous season. The balance sheet; showed receipts 1 £B6 11.?, expenditure £Bl 8s Id, balance £5 3s 9d; assets £BO 18s 9d, liabilities £25 4s sd, excess of assets over liabilities £55 145.4 d. Dr Thomas,, in moving the: adoption of the report, expressed, pleasure at the healthy state of affairs. Mi-G. R. M. Jones seconded thjs, and the report was adopted. Votes of thanks to the retiring officers were recorded; also to all others who had assisted the club, particularly Dr Cox. ' Tin's closed the business, and a vote of thanks to the chairman terminated the meeting. An- adjournment was then made for supper, and a pleasant time was spent. •
