The takings at the test- match on Saturday amounted to £IOO4, or £2OO less than on the previous Saturday, notwithstanding the double charge on the auxiliary stands. The British football team left here this evening for Sydney by the s.s. Victoria. Vassall missed the boat and will g(> to Wellington, leaving there by steamer c" Friday for Sydney. On Saturday last Alb my met Puirlia on the Recreation Grounds, Fairlie, and were defeated-by 8 points i:o nil. O'Dowd scored a trv for tairlic, and Henderson converted, while Burnet kicked a goal from a penalty. 'The ground was heavy after the recent enow and as a result the game was principally a forward one. Mr J. McLeod acte<l as referee and gave everv satisfaction.
