HUNTING.
MEET AT NEWLANDS!
The last meet of the South Canterbury hounds in the Geraldine district was. held at Ne viands' Comer, close to Mr Taylors land at Clandeboye, on Monday last The day was characterised by some of the best hunting runs of the season. Hares were as usual somewhat numerous, albeit the hounds were rewarded by a. kill. The field, though not large, compriiied some very straight goers, and notwithstanding the. late rains no fault could be found with the going. Mr Herbert Ehvorthy acted as Master, and hunted the hounds in the regrettable absence of Mr Arthur Ehvorthy and tfie huntsman, and Mi- Percy Elworthy, assisted by Mr Wareing, whipped. Lunch was kiudly provided by Miss Williams and Mr JC. Eolleston. Among those following were Miss Garshman on Agitator, Miss .Orion on Waitui, Miss Geraldine McDonald on. Black Prince, Mr H. Elworthy on Brisk, Mr P. Ehvorthy on Kauri, Mr Wareing on Derelict, Mr Dennistoun on Shirley, Mr Riiusell em Kurachi, Mr Ellis on Gambler, Mr J. C. Rollcston on Bill Bailey, Mr G. J. Temple on Torch, Mr C. A". Crowe'on Lancet, Mr C. H. Crowe on No. 9, and others. Driving were Miss Williams and ' Miss Julius, Mrs B. R. Macdonald, Mrs Orton and others.
