SOCIALISM
A TEST CASE. , THE JUDGE'S RULING. Press Association-By Telegraph -Copyright Received 9.30 p.m., July 22nd. ■•■'.., LONDON, July 22. \ In case brought by the secretary of the Walthamstow branch of the.Amalgamated Society of Railwaynien against that Society, Mr Justice Neville held that trade union funds could be employed to influence legislation for securing representation in the House of Commons, and that the union had as much -right) to support, socialists as unionist's or liberals. "
The " Daily Mail" says that Judge Neville's decision is of tihe first importance, since a trade unionist can be compelled to assist socialism by his involuntary contributions.
The " Daily News" states that the decision is sound sense, and is nleo a vindication of liberty. The "Daily Chronicle" says that trades unions now have. a..free hand to be as political as they choose, and to subsidise socialism if they like.
