- The Earl of Crewe, speaking in the House of Lords, staled that no further reductions in the Army were contemplated. The Government wore making an enojiiry into the general' expenditure, bub it thus not confined to any one department. THE LICENSING BILL. TUMULT IN THE HOUSE. LONDON, July;2l.. The. House of Commons -spent"'' an allnight sitting over the first clause of the Licensing Bill, providing for.the'statutory limitation of licenses,- without making progress. There was much heated! discussion, and a sharp passage at arms between Mr Asquith and Mr Austen Chamberlain, the latber declaring that, the Premier was discourteous in suggesting'.-that he had not read the Bill.
