FIRES.
Per Press Association. NAPIER, July 21. A six-roomed house, owned by R. Saunders and occupied by J. S. Hood, was totally destroyed by fire early this morning. The building was an old one, and was rapidly consumed. The insurance on the house was £250 in the Norwich Union, and on the furniture £IOO in the South British Office. CHRISTCHURCH, July 21. A six-roomed house in Aberdeen street occupied by Mrs J. Baggott was with the contents totally destroyed by fire to-day. Mrs Baggott was bedridden and had to be carried out" of the) . burning house and taken to the hospital. INVERCARGILL, July 21. A five-roomed house at Otaulwi, owned by Mr John Baird and occupied by Mr John Simon was burned with most of its contents early this morning. The insurances were £l5O on the house in the Commercial Union and ,£IOO on the furniture in lihe Victoria Office.
