"According to evidence since the newspaper " Winning Post" was started by Sievier almost a weekly attack was made upon J. B. Joel and family. Recently Sievier being short" of money -approached Joel for a loan,' finally promising to' "abstain from publishing further alleged defamatory matter if given £SOOO. Joel offered £2500 on condition that Sievier gave a written promise. ' • The latter refused, and demanded another £SOOO under a threat to publish some of the-incidents of Joel's life. > - v
The case was remanded, bail being 1 re fused. * ' "■
