Ah K««». who keeps ;i laundrv in Woollcombo Street, stated that about. 10 p.m. h»*»- ho was disturbed liv someone knocking at his door ami windows and then running away, 'litis happened several times, bo about 11 ii.ui. he went to the Police Station and laid a complaint. He had of Leu been troubled before, on an aveiago about, three times a week and his tormentor "'just knock at door and windows, sometimes v-llv hard, and then ran away." He had" not seen the defendant there before and Hill not know him. The defendant was asked if he had any questions to put. lo this witness and he replied that he merely knocked as he walked pa»t anil probably he simply knocked for the fun of the thing. His Worship said that was a very cowanlly thing to do and was poor fun. Constable McLean stated that, in conse«|iiente of receiving a complaint from Ah Foo he went to the lattei's premises and waited within tin* shop. Presently several hard knocks or kicks -were heard at the door .and ho went out. and caught defendant, who gave no explanation of his conduct. Defendant : I only knocked three times. Hfc> Worship: Three times too many.
Continuing, His Worship said there wa.-; no reason why defendant or anyone ••!se should harass a Chinaman any more than other citizens, and it vra.« a cowardly thing to molest, an undefended Chinaman. He inflicted a line of 5s and costs.
