OUTBREAK AT WELLINGTON. POST OFFICE IN DANGER. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, May 22. A. fire broke out to-night in the post office block. A fierce gal 6 prevailing blew the flames towards the interior. The outbreak spread rapidly and took over two hours to suppress. It is impossible at present to estimate the damage but the extent is minimised because tlto portions of the premises burned were recently vacated in view of early rebuilding operations. The telegraph service ivas maintained as well as possible, but about 10 o'clock work had ito be suspended, the smoke and heat driving the operators from the premises. Work was resumed a quarter of an hour before midnight.
