SIR EDWARD GREY'S VIEW.

Sir Edward Grey, Minister of Foreign Affairs, speaking at the Iron and Steel Institute dinner, declared that Britain's aim was peace, but her naval expenditure depended upon other powers. "Our navy," said Sir E. Grey, "as one for defence, and if ever it falls to such apoint as to be unable to cope with any probable combination brought against jt, our very independence and integrity will be jeopardised."
