TAUBAXGA, May 15.
The well-known chief Tamati Tin, of the Tauranga natives died this morning after a short illness ait the age of 54. He was a son-in-Iw of Hori Ngatai, and leaves a grown up family. He received the Xew Zealand war medal and a snbstantial pension for acting as guide to the British troop t the Gate Pa and Tenanga fights. The "tangi" will be the largest, held here for many years.
