HAWERA, May 15
Mr Justice Cooper to-day quashed the conviction against W". J. Culver, of failing to have a child vaccinated. The contention for Culver was that Magistrate RiddeJl had fined Culver under sub-section 4, section 159 of "The Public Health Act, 1900," for failing to comply with a vaccination notice. ti*e oniy juri.*iiL-:»>n he had was first to order the parent to cause the child to be vaccinated.

The Supreme Court to-day held that/ wool-packing is dumping. The judgment has the effect of bringing places where wool and flax dumping is carried on under thet provisions of the Factories Act.
DUNEDIN, May 15. The folio-wing prisoners were sentenced at the Supremo Court this morning:— George Hertsert Conroy for theft at Balcfctth.it, four months' imprisonment: Le Rol Marshall, breaking and entering, and theft, four charge*, sir months* imprisonment on each charge, the sentences to run concurrently. In the case of Gorge Hotmes found guilty of forgery at Invercargill, sentence was deferred pending the hearing of charges of theft at Christchurcb."
